Treatment Philosophy
As a physiotherapist, I combine evidence-based hands-on treatment with high-level exercise rehabilitation to achieve the best possible outcomes for my patients. I strongly believe that physiotherapy should not be an either-or approach. The most effective treatment plans integrate skilled manual therapy with targeted rehabilitation exercises, allowing patients to recover faster, move better, and build long-term resilience.
While I have extensive experience working with runners and athletes, this clinic is not just for elite performers.
Our motto is simple: Elite Care for Everybody.
Whether you’re training for your next marathon, returning from a sporting injury, recovering from surgery, managing persistent pain, or simply wanting to stay active as you age, you deserve the same level of care and attention as a professional athlete. I treat a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions across all age groups, from adolescents through to older adults. In fact, the oldest patient I have treated was 99 !!
Personal and Sporting Life
Outside of the clinic, sport has always been a huge part of my life. I played Australian Rules Football for 18 years with Coorparoo AFL Club, representing Queensland and winning a First Grade Premiership in 2022. More recently, I transitioned into flag football, the non-contact version of gridiron that will make its Olympic debut at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. In 2025, I was fortunate enough to be selected in the 12-man Australian Olympic Team, travelling to the United States to compete against the USA, Japan, and Canada. Since then, I have competed throughout Australia and internationally in South Korea and Thailand at the highest levels of the sport.
Competing at this level has given me a firsthand understanding of what it takes to perform, recover, and stay healthy over the long term. I know the challenges athletes face because I’ve experienced them myself, and I bring that perspective into every consultation.
Running is another major passion of mine. I am a regular member of Brisbane’s running community and have completed multiple ultramarathons, including several 50km events and the iconic Guzzler 100km. You’ll often find me training with Fitaz Run Club or joining various run clubs across Brisbane. My involvement in the running community extends beyond competing, and I love helping runners of all levels stay healthy and achieve their goals.
When I’m not running, you’ll likely find me on a golf course, tennis court, or watching sport. If there’s a sport out there, chances are I’ve either played it, watched it, or both.
Trail Kings Podcast
One of my proudest projects outside physiotherapy is the Trail Kings Podcast, which brings a fun and unfiltered perspective to the running world. What started as a passion project has grown into one of Australia’s most popular running podcasts, reaching #16 on the Australian Spotify charts and building a community of more than 16,000 followers. Along the way, we’ve been fortunate to work with global brands including Nike and COROS. While the podcast isn’t designed to be educational, it certainly provides plenty of laughs and reflects the genuine passion I have for the running community.
Final Word
At the end of the day, my goal is simple: to help people stay active, move confidently, and enjoy a healthy lifestyle for years to come. Whether you’re chasing a personal best, recovering from an injury, or simply wanting to move without pain, I’d love the opportunity to help you on that journey.
I look forward to meeting you in the clinic and helping you take the next step towards a healthier, stronger, and injury-free future.
Shayle Korander-Matheson (Director)
Hi, I’m Shayle Korander-Matheson, director and principal physiotherapist.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from Griffith University and have dedicated my career to helping people move better, recover from injury, and return to doing the things they love. While I have a strong interest in treating all musculoskeletal conditions, my particular passion lies in the management of running-related injuries and high-level sports rehabilitation.
Qualifications
To continually develop my clinical skills, I have completed a range of additional professional development courses focused on injury management, rehabilitation, and performance. These include David Grey’s Lower Body Rehab, Tom Goom’s Running Repairs, and Montana Running Lab’s Running Injury Management course. I also hold additional qualifications in dry needling.
My treatment approach has been heavily influenced by working alongside some outstanding clinicians. I trained under the mentorship of experienced hands-on therapist Paul Trevathan, developing advanced skills in myofascial release. I have also undertaken professional development with Stan Boileve on the Gold Coast, further expanding my understanding of Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilisation (DNS) and movement-based rehabilitation.
